Why we created this scholarship
Every year our firm sees the human cost of preventable crashes — collisions that never had to happen. We started the LawMachine Safe Roads Scholarship to invest in the students who are thinking seriously about how to make their communities safer, whether through law, public policy, engineering, medicine, or advocacy. We want to reward the next generation of people who will help drive those numbers down.
Who can apply
Enrolled students
You must be currently enrolled (or accepted for the upcoming term) at an accredited U.S. college, university, or law school.
Good standing
Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. We may request an unofficial transcript to confirm eligibility.
Any field of study
Road safety touches every discipline. All majors and programs are welcome to apply.
The essay prompt
“Identify one specific, realistic change — a law, a technology, a design, or a community program — that would meaningfully reduce traffic injuries in your city. Explain why it would work and what it would take to make it happen.”
Essays should be 750–1,000 words, original, and written by you. We are looking for clear thinking and a genuine idea — not legal expertise.

Selection & notification
Our team reviews every submission and selects the winner based on originality, clarity, and the strength of the idea. The recipient is announced within 60 days of the December 1 deadline and notified by email, and the award is paid directly to the student. By applying, you grant LawMachine permission to publish your name and winning essay on this page.
